Four Seasons at Jumeirah Beach Dubai

Dubai ticks so many boxes; great service, check, great shopping and restaurants, check, endless activities for children, check and more five star hotels than you can shake a stick at. I’m frequently in Dubai (not only do I have family there, it’s also a great place to take my young daughter on holiday and a great way to break up a long trip to SE Asia). I have stayed at countless hotels and never found anything that quite ‘fit’. They’re either so big that I feel like a lost puppy at Universal Studios, or too theatrical (no, I’m not interested in having sharks swim past my window when I’m having my morning latte), or soulless with little attention placed on individuality and going above and beyond for the guest.

I really felt I would never find the perfect hotel in Dubai. Then I stayed at the Four Seasons at Jumeirah Beach. There is nothing pretentious or high strung about this hotel, it seems like a breath of fresh air. At a dinner party the Four Seasons certainly wouldn’t be the loudest one in the room, instead it would be wearing beautiful couture with the finest jewellery around. Walking into the lofty lobby I felt calm;my husband and I let out a sigh of relief and knew that it was finally time to relax, reset and unwind. There is nothing gargantuan, scary and set-like about the hotel; the perfection is in the simplicity, an exquisite attention to detail and the customer service that Four Seasons gets right time and time again. This is clearly going to become the hotel of choice by people who know how to travel and by people who know hotels.

Our Jumeirah Sea-View Suite was bigger than most London apartments and an excellent size for a family (pull out bed in the living room included). There was even a small kitchen which is spot on for a chilly midnight bottle though I’m sure room service would rustle this up on the double. I have found my peace and quiet in Dubai: the most meticulous service and a hotel that I will be visiting year after year.

Check List:

Book yourself a poolside villa. This isn’t a covered cabana, it’s a beautiful room off the quiet adults pool (hallelujah) with private sun loungers, a giant plasma TV, changing room and full size bathroom. There is a buzzer so you never have to worry about flagging anyone down to order a blended almond milk latte and one of the most delicious kale salads i’ve ever met (the pool staff will also clean your sunglasses every few hours so don’t even sweat the small stuff).

Visit See Fu, this is an Asian seafood restaurant with the freshest sushi, grilled fish (and meat for those who need some added iron) and Japanese inspired dishes. The various fish carpaccio’s and tartare’s somehow make Zuma look downmarket. This is the perfect way to unwind after a long, arduous day at the beach with a cocktail overlooking the water.

Enjoy all of the activities on the beach. My one year old daughter was happy as a clam swimming in the family pool and swanning around the beach (which has a covered area and much for children to do). There is a floating platform to swim out to and paddle boarding to keep everyone happy.

Enjoy teatime in the lobby. I felt like I’d been transported back to London having tea in the lobby. The variety of teas on offer, sandwiches and beautifully presented cakes give Fortnum’s a run for their money. Even if you live in Dubai, this is a must for any soigne woman.

Feel healthy – the gym in the Four Seasons at Jumeirah is the greatest hotel gym ever. I can’t think of one thing that was missing. There’s a spin studio, jugs of water diffused with fruits, cucumber and mint, TV with every channel known to man and the best equipment I’ve encountered. Follow your workout with a steam, sauna (or Hammam treatment) in the spa and prepare to feel like a million dollars.
