Tom Ford Beauty
I’m the luckiest girl in the world. Not only do have I have the greatest group of friends imaginable, they also have pretty rocking careers. Imagine my face when a big Tom Ford bag was hand delivered to my door filled to the brim with the latest beauty products. My jaw dropped (a million thank you’s Chanella!).
Tom Ford’s makeup is almost always a slam dunk – the products look and feel just as luxurious as you would expect. The formulas are second to none; the lipsticks are highly pigmented, hydrating and smooth. The powders are so finely milled they feel like silk and the foundation (which is in my top three) instantly becomes a second skin while giving an instant Instagram filter to your face.
The first of a handful of lipsticks I was gifted is the iconic Nude Vanille which I’m ashamed to say I have never owned. Similar to my all-time favourite lipstick Revolve Around Me (which is impossible to find except for here) the formula is similarly creamy whilst being long lasting (this won’t slip off after one Pisco Sour). Nude Vanille is a universally flattering shade that is effortless and adds a polish to any eye look you create (or dabbed onto lips for a subtle wash of colour with a bare face).
I was also sent two of the Lips & Boys Lip Colour. I didn’t realise how mini these are making them the perfect companion for that impractical clutch which can barely fit a set of house keys. I might even go so far to describe these are cute, even though I’m not sure how makeup can tick that box. Both shades Jake and Ansel are in a metallic finish and are wearable, creamy and highly pigmented (you get the gist). Ansel is the perfect transition shade from winter to spring for those of us who are desperate for a flash of colour, Jake is a year round treat with warm gold tones throughout making it a beautiful companion on the beach or to brighten up sallow winter-beaten complexions (a new favourite, can you tell?).
The piece de la resistance is the Eye & Cheek Palette in Warm. This is your best friend for travelling and creating an entire face in one. Just bring bronzer and mascara and you’re good to go. Firstly, the blush is the most perfect shade of peachy, pink with gold undertones and the highlighter gives a glorious sheen that instantly brightens your face (and creates razor sharp cheekbones). The four eyeshadows beautifully compliment each other. They’re buttery smooth powders that can be used to create a subtle wash for a day-time eye or turn you into a sultry suductress come the evening (in your dreams).
My husband quickly pinched the Tobacco Vanille All Over Body Spray which I couldn’t argue with. Described as embodying an English gentleman this is musky and warm. The All Over Body Spray is a great alternative for daytime providing a more gentle wash than it’s big brother. This makes a wonderful gift for the man in your life.
I have always heard wonderful things about the Tom Ford Illuminating Primer. My friend who recently visited from the Balkans declared that she was bringing five backups back home with her from London – it’s THAT good. As I’ve mentioned previously in my Loves of Late post, I’m a self confessed primer junkie. This certainly does live up to its hype. This provides a fresh glow that is almost only guaranteed after 12 hours of sleep and an entire day spent at a Six Sense Spa making this a steal at £56.
Finally (as if I wasn’t sent enough), the Fibre Brow Gel is incredible (thought it would be too much if I wrote this entire paragraph in capitals – that’s how good it is). I’ve always had big brows which was a point of concern in my early teens – so much so that I tweezed them into oblivion to avoid being teased (who has the last laugh now?). This manages to make them look even fuller. Perfect for those of you who overtweezed in your younger years and are now yearning for those bushy brows in a flash (stay away from tattoos!).
