Winter Beauty Updates
With endless Christmas parties, events, festive nights out it’s always a wonderful time to start experimenting with your look. Eyes can get smokier, lips can get redder and nails can get more glittery without being mistaken for a runaway Vegas showgirl. I’m totally channelling the Addicted to Love video vixens for the holidays, even if it is for gingerbread house building with my mom-friends.
Burberry’s Festive Fresh Glow Luminous Fluid Foundation (let’s try and go for a shorter name next time guys) provides an ethereal luminosity to the skin. This is the perfect addition to any holiday make-up routine. It gives weather worn skin a gentle glow and an instant boost of health. This can be worn alone on no-makeup days with a quick dot of concealer under the eyes or under a full face of glam for red-carpet worthy radiant skin. This is limited edition so don’t mess around umm-ing and ahh-ing over this guy.
So while we are on the topic of creating the perfect base, I wouldn’t be a good beauty blogger if I didn’t discuss what has quickly become my favourite foundation. La Mer’s Soft Fluid Foundation has quite quickly become my go-to foundation. It has a medium coverage which is buildable but feels like you have nothing but a light layer of moisturiser on your face. Because this is by La Mer (and might I add costs an arm and a leg) this provides moisture for the skin, minimises pores and provides a boost of antioxidants for beautiful skin once the foundation comes off.
This colour would normally scare the living daylights out of me. It would be a whim purchase that would end up in a drawer because I couldn’t get away from using on of my million nude lipsticks. That is until now. Fascination is a vampy, purple in a matte finish that can be built up from a stain to a lacquered show-stopper of a pout. If this shade is too severe for you, Chanel’s Luminous Matte Lip Colours come in beautiful festive shades.
Another limited edition Christmas shade in the most festive red in town. Unlike the Dior lipstick the Guerlain Rouge G de Guerlain is in a satin finish that leaves lips looking ultra hydrated, plump and moisturised. It has a slight sheen making this my top pick for New Years Eve. This is quite possibly the best true red shade I own that I’ve already ordered a backup.
This is quite possibly one of the most beautiful beauty products that I own. It’s a scented spray that adds a youthful sheen to the skin and hair. Spray this on your shoulders when wearing a strapless dress at a holiday party or throughout tousled waves for a sun kissed sheen and a light scent. Souffle d’Or de Shalimar would make a magnificent Christmas present or a Monday-afternoon lunch break pick-me-up.
