SPF – The Real Deal
Posted on August 1st, 2017
The world of SPF’s is a bit of a maze even to a self confessed skincare addict. It’s certainly no news that we should be wearing an SPF every day unless we plan on having leathery skin in our older age accompanied by a blanket of sunspots (even in London).
Having fairly sensitive skin and a real aversion to using products that feel heavy and clog my pores, it has been a real labour of love to find the winning formula for me. It’s been a few years of weighing up if wearing an SPF and protecting my skin for the future is worth having breakouts, blackheads and cranky skin from heavy and scented sun protection. Thankfully I’ve found three wonder products which are always in my beauty arsenal. I have noticed drastic changes since incorporating an SPF into my morning skincare regimen including a much more even skin tone with less redness spread across my cheeks.
If I could recommend one product enough it would be this. I have never had more compliments on my skin than I do when I’m wearing this. It’s buildable, long wearing, feels paper thin on the skin, blurs any imperfections and creates the most beautiful, healthy glow. IT Cosmetics CC+ Cream should be owned by absolutely everyone. It’s the perfect product to wear during the day and is so easy and effortless to apply, it brings life to even the most sallow skin. If I could scream it from the rooftops I probably would (even at the risk of getting a knock on the door from my local police officer).
The newest of the bunch, Heliocare’s Gelcream Color was introduced to me after a heavenly Sarah Chapman facial (a must if you live in London). For days when you want a lick of coverage and a slightly more even skin tone than when you have on nothing at all this is certainly a game changer. This is the perfect product to use on the beach when you want a smidge of makeup on and a lightweight SPF.
I clearly haven’t made much of a secret that Heliocare are the top dogs in SPF for picky ladies like myself. This Gel Oil-Free SPF 50 has been part of my everyday beauty routine for the past year and I will never ever forget to slather this on in the morning. I use this after using my vitamin C serum and before moisturiser. It doesn’t affect the way makeup goes on, it doesn’t feel heavy, is fairly unscented and has never caused any sort of breakouts. Whatsmore, I have been using the same bottle for an entire year so a little goes a long way. Factoring in an SPF daily has left my skin looking young, fresh, hydrated and has practically eradicated all of my redness.
