To Buy List: March 2015
Posted on March 28th, 2015
This month I’ve had a sudden urge to push beauty purchases to the side and focus on adding some stellar summertime accessories to my wardrobe. After a lengthy move and a militant clear out, I’ve made a small list of bits and pieces that I need to take me into the warmer weather. This is a little snippet of what I’m currently after.
I’m on the hunt for the perfect primer, I’m sick and tired of lathering my face in practically pure silicone (may work for some) and wanted something to create a smooth base, add a little moisture to my skin and give me a shot of illumination. Chanel Le Blanc De Chanel Illuminating Base is created as a multi-use product to enhance radiance and leather a smoother surface for makeup application. That description alone has me sold.
I have been using Eve Lom on and off for years. My mother used to drag me to her monthly Eve Lom facial when I was young so it only seemed right that I continued to use something that has served my mother so well. Winter has really battered my skin and left it dry and flakey, this cleanser doesn’t strip my face like most and leaves a light slick of essential oils to boost hydration prior to moisturising. Thankfully this is also a fantastic way to remove even the toughest make-up lickity-split. This is a repeat purchase for me and will surely be a beauty staple for years to come.
As I’m getting older I’m certainly realising that having the highest heel in the room is in no way a necessity. I’ve rediscovered the fabulous-ness of the four inch; high enough to give you long, Amazonian legs and sturdy enough not to make your feet feel like you’re standing on hot coals. These Gianvito Rossi suede sandals would look perfect with a pair of denim cut-offs or a little white summer dress and floppy hat. Perfect for your very own summer of love.
Using a toner has become a staple part of my morning and evening skincare routine. I have such limited experience with various toners and have heard nothing but rave reviews on the SK-II Facial Treatment Clear Lotion. This is free from alcohol so won’t dry out the skin, there is a mixture of AHA and Piter (which is unique to all SK-II products). These ingredients are said to clarify the skin and remove all dead skin cells which will leave skin prepped for the next step of your skincare routine (moisturisers/serums). It’s said to be incredibly refreshing and gentle. I’ve already placed my order and will update on this as I’m expecting greatness.
I’m having a real love affair with Russian designers of late. I love their whimsical, fairytale designs which could easily be worn in a period drama. This white embroidered Vilshenko Monika dress would be perfect with a pretty pair of flat sandals and wind-whipped hair on a balmy summer night.
Chantecaille has to be one of my favourite beauty brands. It may be ruinously expensive but each and everything I’ve tried has always been a pleasure to use. The Brilliant Gloss lip glosses are incredibly moisturising, long lasting and most importantly not sticky. Lucky is the perfect pink/nude shade (I need another one of these like I need a hole in the head) which would finish off any look this summer and look smoking hot with a tan.
There is nothing I love more than a structured bag with a long shoulder strap. This is becoming a common theme in my wardrobe. I’m also developing a slight obsession with all things baby pink so this Fendi Demi Jour shouldn’t come as much of a surprise. The pink and grey colour blocking make this modern and useful without appearing like you’re a giant Barbie. This fits everything you need without encouraging you to cart around your entire bedside table.
What is on your monthly wish list? I would love to hear any feedback if you are the proud owner of any of these babies.
